Our Philosophy
We believe that where you read shapes what you remember. The physical environment influences how deeply we engage with text, how long we can sustain attention, and how much pleasure we derive from the act of reading itself.
Every project we undertake starts with listening. We want to understand not just your space but your relationship with books. How do you read? When do you read? What does your ideal reading session look like?
Design Principles
Our work is guided by several core principles that inform every decision:
- Light comes first. Natural light affects mood, focus, and visual comfort. We design around light patterns throughout the day.
- Comfort enables immersion. Seating must support hours of use without fatigue. We select and customize furniture for genuine comfort.
- Clutter breaks concentration. Storage solutions keep your current reads accessible while maintaining visual calm.
- Acoustics matter. Sound-absorbing materials and strategic placement create pockets of quiet within busy homes.
- Personal touches create belonging. Your reading space should reflect your literary identity and aesthetic preferences.
Our Team
Bold-heath brings together interior designers, carpenters, and project managers who share a love of books. Our lead designer has over fifteen years of residential interior experience. Our craftspeople specialize in custom millwork and built-in furniture.
What unites us is the conviction that readers deserve spaces as thoughtfully crafted as the books they love.
"Working with Bold-heath felt like collaborating with fellow book lovers who happened to be brilliant designers. They understood what I was trying to create before I could fully articulate it."— Jennifer L., Ottawa
